Charles Barkley thinks LeBron James can be better than Michael Jordan

The game of “Who’s Better?” continues, but on a much bigger level than Dwight Howard versus Brook Lopez. This debate/hypothesis is about being the greatest basketball player of all-time: LeBron James versus Michael Jordan. In an episode of NBA TV’s “Open Court” due to air on October 9th at 11:00PM ET, Charles Barkley says that LeBron could be better than Jordan:

“I do think he can be better than Michael,” Barkley said. “I thought I would never compare somebody to Michael Jordan. But this guy, LeBron James, he does everything well. Michael did everything well. LeBron James is just bigger, stronger, faster. That’s the only difference.”

And further information from the SI.com link – James won his first NBA title and third MVP award last season, joining Jordan as the only players to win the NBA title, regular-season MVP, NBA Finals MVP and Olympic gold medal in the same year.

Saying that anyone can be better than Michael Jordan is almost sacrilege, but if anyone has a shot first, it’s Kobe Bryant and even that argument would be slim, especially considering how much Kobe allegedly modeled his game after Jordan. Bryant would need at least two more NBA titles to be in a legitimate argument. And in the case of LeBron, six more.

It’s going to be tough, but LeBron is only 27-years-old with a good cast of teammates for the foreseeable future in Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. What do you think? Is it possible for His Airness to be surpassed as the G.O.A.T.? Leave your comments below.
