Behind the strong play of Monta Ellis, the Indiana Pacers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 111-92, Thursday evening.

The game began with the Pacers up three after the first, and a  hard-fought second quarter gave the Pacers a seven-point lead by halftime. The third quarter was a back-and-forth event with the Hawks threatening with short runs.

Atlanta tied up the game late in the fourth and even took a two-point lead at one point. However, the Pacers immediately responded with George Hill hitting a three, Ian Mahinmi adding a layup, and the Pacers never looked back ripping off a 20-2 run to ice that game. The Pacers shot well from the floor hitting on 48 percent overall.

The biggest news of the game from the Pacers’ side was Myles Turner’s first career start. He has played great recently, with a string of double-doubles and answered the call, scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds on the night. Monta Ellis added 25 points on 7-11 shooting. Indianapolis native, Jeff Teague, scored 20 points and dished out five assists.

The Hawks continue their season with a trip to Miami on Sunday and the Pacers will host Denver on Saturday.

The win puts the Pacers at 24-22 for the season.
