To celebrate moms across the globe, adidas Baseball today unveiled the special edition adizero Afterburner Mother’s Day cleat. Making its on-field debut on more than 150 #teamadidas baseball players this weekend, the 2017 adizero Afterburner Mother’s Day cleat features a graphic that highlights the mother’s names for each player in the adidas Baseball family.
The special edition Mother’s Day cleat is dipped in soft, light pink and donned with darker pink polka dot accents and pink chrome stripes. The polka dot pattern, which was inspired by Rosie the Riveter’s iconic polka dotted bandana, evokes the strength and tenacity that characterizes mothers. Embodying the creator spirit, the tongue features a large pink polka dot that players can customize with a message to their moms.
The 2017 adizero Afterburner, the lightest cleat in the game, is engineered with a lightweight, seamless SPRINTSKIN upper with zoned support and a reinforced abrasion toecap for lateral movements and sprints between the bases. Sculpted to be aerodynamic and wrap around the foot to provide a sock-like feel, the new TECHFIT breathable, compression bootie allows for flexibility and movement through the ankle, while an articulated heel helps deliver a lockdown sensation that makes the cleat feel like an extension of the foot for multidirectional movement and control.
The polka dot theme continues onto the sockliner and the pink upper sits atop a full-length LITESTRIKE EVA midsole for increased cushioning and comfort. A striking pink chrome plate features a PROTRAX cleat configuration that provides dynamic acceleration and traction.
