Hollywood loves to be self-referential and even poke fun at itself. Here\u2019s a list of 15 of the best movies that let us take a peek behind the business that is show.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. The Player<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JdnKpF9fq78?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nThis 1992 film by Robert Altman (based on a book by Michael Tolkin), famously known for its uninterrupted opening sequence that clocks in at a little over 7 minutes, satirizes show business while placing Tim Robbin\u2019s main character at the center of a murder mystery.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>2.<\/strong> Bowfinger<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9cb5Ka9SqGM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nAnother film that sends up the Hollywood filmmaking process (and possibly the church of Scientology), Bobby Bowfinger (played by Steve Martin, who also wrote the screenplay) enlists the \u201cacting\u201d services of Jiff (Eddie Murphy) to help him complete the movie he\u2019s making that stars Kit Ramsey (also played by Eddie Murphy), only Ramsey isn\u2019t aware that there\u2019s a movie being made.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3<strong>.<\/strong> For Your Consideration<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8sXpbnZsxFA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nChristopher Guest and his merry band of players are at it again in this 2006 comedy. This time a group of actors are under the false impression that their work-in-progress \u201cHome for Purim\u201d is already generating much awards buzz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4<strong><strong>. <\/strong><\/strong>The Big Picture<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y3Rsx0cSm7c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nAnother Hollywood farce directed and co-written by Christopher Guest, this late- \u201880s gem follows a film school student, played by Kevin Bacon, fall into the perilous pit of Hollywood glitz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> Tropic Thunder<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rDOnaIxh-bE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nA bunch of spoiled, entitled, and delusional actors played by Robert Downey, Jr., Jack Black and Ben Stiller are dropped into the jungle and must act their way out of it. Tom Cruise in a fat suit. \u2018Nuf said.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><strong>6<strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Be Kind Rewind<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/J7C8nHAAs70?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nJack Black is at it again. In this imaginative comedy from Michel Gondry, Black and co-conspirator Mos Def team up to film \u201csweded\u201d versions of some of their favorite movies after Black\u2019s character mistakenly gets magnetized (just go with it) and winds up erasing most of the VHS tapes in their video rental store. Black sings a killer rendition of the \u201cGhostbusters\u201d theme song, to boot<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>7<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Boogie Nights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9-yQYyt44uI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s one of the cleaner film-within-a-film moments that we CAN show you from Boogie Nights. Ladies and Gentlemen, for your viewing pleasure we give you Brock Landers and Chest Rockwell in \u201cAngels Live in My Town\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>And, speaking of exotic pictures\u2026<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>8<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong><strong>Zack and Miri Make a Porno<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/J-EKnxwL5KY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>9<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Shadow of the Vampire<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uAn5uLNMmjk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>What if \u201cNosferatu\u201d had been filmed using an actual vampire in the lead role?<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>10<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Ed Wood<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CawVaHxWvnA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nAnd on the lighter side of Dracula-fare, we have Martin Landau appearing as Bela Lugosi in Tim Burton\u2019s comedic take on the life and filmwork of Ed Wood.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>11<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Sweet Liberty<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sGBjiyVVbGU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nWritten and directed by (and starring) Alan Alda, the movie centers on Alda\u2019s character, whose book about the American Revolution is being adapted and distorted into a big budget Hollywood action film.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>12<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Get Shorty<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yNLaTtpovys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nBased on the Elmore Leonard novel of the same name, a mobster gets involved in the film industry and realizes that the two worlds aren\u2019t necessarily as different as you\u2019d think they\u2019d be.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>13<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Living in Oblivion<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OaTEaKhXfzM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nThis indie film from 1995 starring Steve Buscemi and Catherine Keener (and featuring GoT\u2019s Tyrion Lannister), recounts the events surrounding a film shoot, where anything that could go wrong on set tends to actually go wrong, Groundhog Day-style.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>14<strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Singin\u2019 in the Rain<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SND3v0i9uhE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nI\u2019m singing in the rain\u2026and now you can actually hear it. Set in the 1920s, a production company and its actors must come to terms with entering the new world of \u201ctalkies\u201d after witnessing the success of \u201cThe Jazz Singer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><strong>15<strong>.<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>Adaptation<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0HtZ2M4e_AM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nDid you really think that we\u2019d leave out this super meta take on a story within a story within a story within the mind of Charlie Kaufman? Loosely based on the nonfiction book &#8220;The Orchid Thief&#8221;, the film warps and devolves into a tale about Kaufman\u2019s attempt at writing said-film.
