Oh, did I mention it had Martin Scorsese as the director? Well, that rumor is back in full force.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re a film geek, you know that DeNiro and Scorsese are one of the best duos in cinema history. They\u2019re the duo that brought us classics like <i>Taxi Driver<\/i>, <i>Raging Bull<\/i>, <i>Goodfellas<\/i>, and <i>Casino<\/i>. Yes, Leonardo DiCaprio is Scorsese\u2019s go-to guy now, but back in the day, DeNiro was the man. The last project they did together was in 1995, but there have been rumors throughout the years of these two reuniting. One notable rumor was that they would team up to do a sequel to <i>Taxi Driver<\/i>. They even mentioned it in interviews, but sadly, that fell through, too.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Pacino has caught the interest of film geeks across the world when he mentioned that <i>The Irishman<\/i> is still in the works in his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2014\/09\/09\/al-pacino-does-what-he-wants-to-do-the-humbling-scorsese-and-that-scarface-remake.html#\">interview with The Daily Beast<\/a>. Although DeNiro has been saying \u201cyes\u201d to every film project as if that\u2019s the only word he knows, Pacino has been careful with his selection of roles throughout his later years. Scorsese has also still been churning out quality work, such as the <i>The Departed<\/i>, <i>Hugo<\/i>, and <i>The Wolf of Wallstreet. <\/i>DeNiro has definitely still got it, as he earned an Oscar nomination for his role in <i>Silver Linings Playbook, <\/i>but he desperately needs much more quality roles in his life right now because teaming up with the likes of 50 Cent in straight-to-video type of deals just isn\u2019t cutting it.<\/p>\n<p>We need a gangster film desperately, and who better to give it to us than these guys? Scorsese has a film entitled <i>Silence<\/i> on deck already that should be released by 2015, so it seems like <i>The Irishman<\/i> is a project that could hit the screens by late 2016. Let\u2019s just all hope that Pacino isn\u2019t filling our minds with fairy tales and promises. If that happens to be the case, we have to remember that it\u2019s a cruel world indeed. We\u2019ll always have <i>Goodfellas<\/i> and <i>Casino <\/i>to comfort us, but one more for old time\u2019s sake wouldn\u2019t hurt.<\/p>\n<p>This generation knows DeNiro as &#8220;that guy in the <em>Meet the Fockers<\/em> movies.&#8221; He needs an &#8220;allow me to reintroduce myself&#8221; film.
