We\u2019re going to be celebrating Halloween all month, by highlighting one of our favorite Halloween episodes every day. Today\u2019s we\u2019re looking at the Gravity Falls<\/em> episode “Summerween.”<\/p>\n

Why It’s Great<\/strong>
\nMabel and Dipper are excited when Stan tells them that the people of Gravity Falls are so into Halloween, they celebrate it twice a year, once in late June. (“Do you always carry that calendar in your pocket?”)
\nThey’re all set to trick-or-treat, until Dipper talks to Wendy and Robbie. They make him realize that he’s getting older and it’s not cool to trick-or-treat anymore. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a choice when a monster called The Trickster insists that they get 500 treats for him in one night. He tells them, “You must trick-or-treat or die.” In order to appease the Trickster, Dipper has to embrace Halloween and use the fact that people can’t resist twins in costumes.<\/p>\n

Despite how scary the Trickster is, it ends up being a positive for Mabel because she gets to spend one last Halloween doing kid stuff with her brother.<\/p>\n

Why It’s Full of Halloween Spirit<\/strong>
\nThis episode captures Halloween perfectly. It gets the big stuff, like the awkward transition between childhood and being too old to trick-or-treat. But, it’s also full of great little details, like the fact that the monster turns out to be made of the rejected Halloween candy like black licorice.<\/p>\n
