Yes, they did it, they remade the original Fast and Furious aka Point Break. This is yet another film that just didn’t need to be remade. Anyways, it’s directed by Ericson Core, the director of Invincible with Mark Wahlberg. Oh, and it stars two up-and-coming talents that probably won’t get remembered for this film: Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez.
I can’t seem to pin down exactly why this movie got the green light. The 1991 version of Point Break with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze was a good helping of action juice, but it really didn’t need a remake. I can hear a choral “meh” in my mind from everybody who watched the trailer at the same time I did. The trailer simply suggests that it brings absolutely nothing to the table.
The stunts may be the bright side to this flick, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to save the film or even keep it afloat. Hopefully, I’m wrong, but I’m probably not. This film will hit theaters on Christmas. Wait, what? Check out the trailer.
