Here at Pop Culture Spin we refuse to accept that Halloween is only one day. We’re going to be celebrating Halloween all month, by highlighting one of our favorite Halloween episodes every day. Today’s we’re looking at the Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode “Halloween.”
Basic Info
Directed by: Dean Holland
Written by: Lesley Arfin
Episode Number: Season 1, Episode 6
Where to Watch It: Hulu
Why It’s Great
After Jake claims he would make a great criminal, he makes a bet with Holt that he could steal his metal of valor by the end of the night.
Jake’s attempts to steal the metal are ridiculous and unnecessarily elaborate. Pigeons are involved.
In the end, all of the detectives come together to help Jake with the challenge. (He had to bribe them by offering to do their paperwork).
Meanwhile, Terry is determined to learn the secret of why Rosa didn’t graduate Catholic school and is surprised to find out it’s because she transferred to ballet school– it’s less surprising when she later reveals that she was kicked out of ballet school for getting into fights.
Why It’s Full of Halloween Spirit
Amy hates Halloween, but Charles loves it. Charles is determined to make her love Halloween but instead she bails on him.
At the turning point, we find out that Charles’s love of Halloween isn’t based on blind optimism. He tells her stories about running away from kids who threw eggs at him and explains that friendships are formed through Halloween hardship.
