We’re counting down the days until Christmas by looking back at Christmas episodes from a variety of TV shows. Tonight we’re talking about “Citizen Knope” from Parks and Recreation. What Christmas episode tropes did this episode use? Let’s take a look.

Basic Info

Directed by: Randall Einhorn

Written by: Dave King

Episode Number: Season 4, Episode 10

Where to Watch It: Netflix

Presents

Ann brings everyone gifts from Leslie. She tells them, “She said they’re not from her, they’re from Santa.”

Leslie always gets everyone the perfect gifts. She makes Andy a gold record, she gives Donna a personalized leopard print robe with pink feather cuffs and rhinestones that says “You Can Get It!” on the back, she gives Tom a watch that just says “Baller Time” instead of having a clock face, she makes April a painting of April murdering The Black Eyed Peas, she rigs Ron’s office doors so that he can slam them closed by pressing a button and she gives Jerry socks (he’s delighted and says, “She gets me.”)

Leslie loves presents so much, she even gives Chris a thoughtful gift while in the midst of telling him her action committee is going to take him to task. She gives him a stopwatch that records his jogging times. When he tells her how thoughtful it is, she tells him, “My pleasure. See you in hell.”

Gingerbread Houses

Ron decides the team needs to get her something so amazing it matches all of her perfect gifts from over the years. Tom makes a word cloud of Leslie’s interests. They come to the conclusion that the perfect is to make a miniature candy version of the offices.

Ron discovers he’s very bad at making candy houses, but he comes to terms with his lack of skills.

Ornaments

Leslie presents her campaign managers with Knope 2012 tree ornaments.
