Norah Jones is always doing interesting things, and in various mediums: singing duets with the likes of Outkast and the Foo Fighters and performing in side projects like The Little Willies. A few years back she made her film debut in Wong Kar-wai’s My Blueberry Nights, and last year she recorded an album with Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day, called foreverly, on which they reinterpreted the songs from the Everly Brothers’ Songs Our Daddy Taught Us album.
Most recently, Norah appeared as herself in the Amy Poehler/Paul Rudd comedy They Came Together, performing a song for the movie while IN the movie (how meta).
Jones has now teamed up with Catherine Popper (from the bands Grace Potter and the Notcturnals and Ryan Adams and the Cardinals) and singer Sasha Dobson as Puss N Boots. Here’s a track, “Don’t Know What It Means,” which is currently making the rounds on college and independent radio stations. The album, No Fools, No Fun is out today on the Blue Note label, and I am definitely purchasing it (yes, the WHOLE ALBUM, some people still do that). It’s alternative country. It’s all girls. It’s all good.
