Basic Info

Directed by: Michael Dinner

Written by: Shonda Rhimes

Found Family

Izzie wants everyone to celebrate Thanksgiving together. When everyone is late, she gets upset, but at the last minute, everyone shows up and she gets to have her Thanksgiving dinner with friends.

As the group eats dinner, Meredith sums up the spirit of the day in voiceover, “Gratitude. Appreciation Giving thanks. No matter what words you use, it all means the same thing: happy. We’re supposed to be happy. Grateful; for friends, family, happy to just be alive. Weather we like it or not. Maybe we’re not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we’re thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we’re thankful for the things we’ll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate.”

Food

George’s family pulls him away because every year they shoot a turkey. Even when George gets upset, they refuse to let him leave until he’s shot a turkey.

Izzie thinks she’s going to have to cook by herself and is in way over her head since she’s never really cooked before. Fortunately, Cristina has invited her boyfriend Preston over and he’s able to help Izzie make the meal.
