Last week, when Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Austin Rivers and other 2012 NBA rookies got together for the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot, Jay-Z’s Life + Times website caught up with four of the rooks to talk about the upcoming NBA season. You can catch the video below:
Some highlights:
- The Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal didn’t collect basketball cards, but he did collect Pokemon cards. You have no idea how old that makes me feel.
- The New Orleans Hornets’ Austin Rivers’ dad talks junk to his son. By the way, Rivers’ dad is Boston Celtics head coach and NBA title winner, Doc Rivers. Junk justified!
- The Hornets’ Anthony Davis is getting eager and is ready to play. A perfectly boring answer from the number one overall pick. He should do well in the NBA.
- The Charlotte Bobcats’ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is excited to play LeBron James, his fellow rookie and ex-teammate at Kentucky, Davis, and Kobe Bryant. I love this answer.
In all likelihood, Davis is going to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award, but the player I’m most excited to watch is Kidd-Gilchrist. He’s just a great all-around player that can do a lot of different things well, plus he has obvious leadership qualities. With Charlotte, Kidd-Gilchrist should get a lot of opportunities to shine. Let’s go, MKG!
