The NBA has suspended Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins for one game and fined him $20,000 for punching an opposing player and verbally abusing an official in a game earlier this week.

Cousins has been suspended for punching Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley in the stomach with 9:44 remaining in the first quarter of the Kings’ 129-103 loss on Tuesday night in Sacramento. Associated Press

I want to believe in Boogie Cousins but he’s making it really hard. There’s a reason he wasn’t chosen for the All-Star game this year, but it had nothing to do with lacking basketball skills. He says all the right things before games now, but forgets to act on those better instincts in the heat of battle. The tantrums only happen when the Kings are being blown out which also doesn’t show much maturity.

I’m rooting for the Kings to better, but it gets harder to root for Cousins each time something like this happens. – AL
