The New Orleans Pelicans say guard Tyreke Evans has undergone minor arthroscopic surgery to clean out scar tissue in his right knee.
The club says the procedure was performed Wednesday and that Evans is starting six to eight weeks of rehabilitation immediately.
Evans played in 72 games this season, averaging 14.5 points, 5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 28.2 minutes per game. Associated Press

I’m not sure why Evans looks like he got grazed by a stray bullet but the report says the surgery went well. Knee surgeries were once the bane of every athlete’s career. Now a guy like Russell Westbrook can have three knee surgeries in ten months and look better than ever.
Evans had a disappointing season after being signed to be an instant offensive spark plug. The Pelicans can be blamed for some of his struggles for their decision to bring him off the bench. Having a crowded backcourt with talented plaers who expect to play big minutes is a cute idea, but it only works on NBA 2K14.
The team needs a trade to get the best from everyone. Everyone other than Anthony Davis should be on the trading block. The Pelicans are probably going to give this grand experiment one more season before giving up. – AL
