Sylvan Esso Perform “Coffee” on “The Tonight Show”

Sylvan Esso is the name of the electronic duo comprised of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn. I have been in love with this hypnotic song (and the duo’s self-titled album) for a few months now, so I was pretty psyched to see that the duo would be performing “Coffee” on last night’s Tonight Show. And to see that they would be backed by Questlove on the drums? This performance is just full of win.

I guess since Future Islands’ recent breakout performance of “Seasons (Waiting on You)” on Letterman last month, a memo must have gone around the music industry, encouraging singers to amp up their interpretive dance styles, because Ms. Meath has some interesting moves.

Oh, and that “hanky panky” refrain you hear in “Coffee”? Totally borrowing from the Tommy James and the Shondells hit song of the same name.

Sylvan Esso’s album is already available for purchase, and the band is currently on tour. Check out their website for more info.
