‘A Most Wanted Man’: Due in Theaters This Friday

In recent years, the summertime has become the playing field for giant, splashy, high-octane superhero movies. Yes, a few romantic comedies slip in through the side door unnoticed, and sure, there will always be family-friendly fare for the kids at the theaters as well.

But this past weekend I saw the trailer for A Most Wanted Man, based on the novel by John LeCarré and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, and Robin Wright (sporting some severely dark hair—perhaps to help differentiate this character from Claire Underwood from House of Cards?)

The trailer looks awesome, and intense! When it was over, I even thought to myself “I better remember that I want to see this when it comes out in the Fall,” because I mistakenly assumed it wouldn’t be released until the Fall (you know, the Fall: when all of the deep and important movies start to take up residence at your local multiplex, generating buzz before awards season kicks in).

Guess what, this movie comes out on Friday.

The film was directed by Anton Corbijn (who some may remember as the director of the George Clooney thriller The American, but I more fondly know him as the man who directed so many amazing Depeche Mode videos).

More information about the film can be found here.
