Derrick Rose: The Return

Derrick Rose went down with an ACL tear during the first game of the 2012 NBA Playoffs for the Chicago Bulls in late April. Going down with him was any chance of the Bulls making a strong run in the playoffs. It isn’t any gross exaggeration to say that Rose is the heart of the Bulls and now that he is expected to sit out most, if not all, of this upcoming season, many don’t expect too much from Chicago, particularly any hope of a number one playoff seed once again.

Rose, the last full season NBA MVP brings a lot to the hardwood when healthy – ridiculous handle, ability to attack the rack, tenacity, and ice cold water streaming through his veins. However, things are going to be different for Derrick Rose this upcoming season and adidas is going to document that difference.

The difference, of course, is Rose starting the season on the sidelines as he rehabs his way back to the deck and do work on the court. The keywords for what is being billed as “The Return” by adidas are: Belief, Hope, Focus, Push, and Drive. The world will be sure to see all of these characteristics in each episode that chronicles Derrick Rose battling to be best baller he can be. Check out the launch video below:

I think this is an excellent and innovative move by adidas, to still take advantage of their star NBA player despite him not being able to play ball. Allowing fans to take a peek behind the curtain as Derrick Rose prepares for his return is smart marketing. Naturally, Baller Mind Frame will follow the episodes because we have nothing but respect for Rose’s game, old school mentality of letting his actions speak for him, and being an overall badass on the court.
