Inspired by athlete insight and driven by demand, adidas launches Energy Boost 2 with a complete technical upgrade.

BOOST cushioning returns more energy than any other foam in the running industry. Energy Boost 2 features a one-piece translucent heel to mid-foot fit cage that locks you on top of the full-length BOOST midsole to create an enhanced, more stable fit. Visually, the new design allows for more a more refined aesthetic.

“BOOST has blazed the trail for Energy Running and reflects adidas’ commitment to strategic performance innovation,” said Eric Liedtke, global head of performance at adidas. “As the shoe that helped us introduce BOOST, Energy Boost 2 demonstrates the elaborate research and cutting edge development required to satisfy today’s Energy Running crave.”

“A year ago, Energy Boost was the first running shoe to swing the pendulum from minimalist to cushioning with its industry-changing BOOST technology,” said Mikal Peveto, director of running at adidas America. “This year, we’ve refined the product that has unprecedented energy return; having outperformed more than 800 shoes tested by Runner’s World.”

Peveto continued, “As they hit the roads in record numbers, runners are seeking more from their running shoes and Energy Boost 2 is with them every step of the way.”

“From the first time you try it, you notice how it feels—ultra comfortable with an immediate lift in your step,” said James Carnes, global creative director of performance at adidas.  “The amazing thing is it retains that feeling for so long.”

By 2015, the majority of adidas running shoes will feature BOOST and, this year, sports like basketball and baseball will benefit from BOOST technology.

“I’ve never worn anything like BOOST,” said Joakim Noah, All-Star Center for the Chicago Bulls. “They’re soft and comfortable, but also responsive – the energy you feel is a difference-maker.”

Energy Boost 2 is available for $160 on February 26 on adidas.com and at running specialty retailers along with select locations of Dick’s Sporting Goods, Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Finish Line and Eastbay.

Colorways include six for men (Solar Blue/Solar Blue/Black, Solar Zest/Neo Iron Metallic/Black, Black/Black/Solar Blue, Dark Onix/Black/Black, White/Black/Metallic Silver, and White/White/Solar Blue) and five for women (Solar Blue/Tech Grey Metallic/Solar Metallic, Vivid Berry/Pearl Metallic/Glow, White/Tribe Purple/Metallic Silver, Dark Onix/Black/Black, and Black/Black/Solar Blue).
