With injuries to Kevin Durant and himself wreaking havoc on his teams’ playoff chances, Oklahoma City Thunder’s point guard Russell Westbrook has kept the the Thunder afloat and flirting with the 8th seed in the Western Conference playoff race, while emerging as a solid candidate for the NBA MVP Award.

His ferocious way of play has picked up some high profile fans as well.

Kobe Bryant even mentioned he is a fan of Westbrook’s play in an interview with Ahmad Rashad. Recently Allen Iverson praised Russ as well.

During a telecast interview with Malik Rose and Marc Zumoff at a recent Philadelphia 76ers game, Iverson had some high praise for Mr. Westbrook.

“I’m the biggest Westbrook fan I think there is. He reminds me so much of myself as far as his heart, laying it on the line night in and night out. Just bringing it every single night.”

Iverson and Westbrook have played each other twice with A.I. being the victor in each head-to-head battle.

While Russ might be bigger and more athletic than A.I., Iverson can boast of having one thing Westbrook can’t match just yet. He has a MVP trophy in his collection.
