Marco Estrada was scratched from his scheduled pitching start Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays after injuring his ankle during fielding practice.

After losing Marcus Stroman for the season the Toronto Blue Jays have been desperate for someone on the margins of the rotation to step forward as a potential starter for the club. Estrada was one such candidate for the fifth spot in the rotation.

Estrada came to the Blue Jays as part of the trade that moved Adam Lind out of the clubhouse. On the bright side. at least this injury was not the result of a sprinkler or a sneeze. So that is some kind of improvement, right?

Estrada is currently 1-1 in action this spring training, with a 9.39
