While it wasn’t technically cheating the Baltimore Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh figured they could learn a thing or two from the devious formations used by the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game last season. The formations garnered so attention that the league opted to change some rules surrounding these sorts of formations.
However that isn’t stopping the Ravens from trying to utilize some of these tricks. “We are working on formations — legal formations, illegal formations, unexpected formations…We will not assume that the referees are going to understand or always get it right when a formation goes out on the field, so we’re working on everything.” Harbaugh said to USA TODAY Sports.
I’m no expert on the matter but I’m pretty sure the first rule of cheating (and Fight Club) is you’re not supposed to talk about it. Especially to USA TODAY Sports.
