Week 7 NFL Fantasy Cheat Sheet

Running Backs

Top Picks – guys you HAVE to start if you have them

  1. Todd Gurley vs. San Francisco – The 49ers are weak against the run and Gurley leads the NFL in rushing.  This is kind of a no brainer.
  2. Saquon Barkley vs. Atlanta – Atlanta hasn’t been good around the line of scrimmage stopping the run or short passes, and Barkley is the man in both regards.
  3. Ezekiel Elliott vs. Washington – Washington has played well enough, the problem is that Zek gets too much volume to be ignored.

Players to watch – players worth keeping an eye on

  1. James White vs. Chicago – The Patriots shifted away from White last week.  I’d want to see if this is a trend, or a onetime deal.
  2. David Johnson vs. Denver – I’m still not sold that the offense uses Johnson enough.

Players to avoid – I’d rather not start these guys if I can avoid it

  1. Mark Ingram vs. Baltimore – The idea was an even-ish split when Ingram came back.  That has not been the case.
  2. LeSean McCoy vs. Indianapolis – With a new QB in the mix the Colts are going to focus on McCoy.  He won’t be able to get much traction, even against that weak defense.
  3. Derrick Henry vs. Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers have played the run really well, and the Titans haven’t been great at getting Henry going.

Draft King Bargains – decent matchups you can pick up on the cheap

  1. Sony Michel vs. Chicago ($5,500) – Michel got the bulk of the work last week, and is priced really nicely for value.
  2. Latavius Murray vs. New York Jets ($5,000) – The Vikings are potentially getting up big in this game, which would mean a lot of running to burn out the clock.
  3. Carlos Hyde vs. Tampa Bay ($4,700) – The Tampa defense has been shaky at best.  This could be a high scoring game where Hyde gets a lot of goal line looks.

Wide Receivers

Top Picks – guys you HAVE to start if you have them

  1. Adam Thielen vs. New York Jets – He’s been one of the best and most consistent wide receivers so far, and he gets a good match-up with the Jets.
  2. A.J. Green vs. Kansas City – The Bengals figure to keep up in a scoring race with the Chiefs.  That means a LOT of passing.
  3. Tyreek Hill vs. Cincinnati – Hill is the big play guy, has always been the big play guy, but it looks like he’s being used more around the goal line as well.

Players to watch – players worth keeping an eye on

  1. Michael Thomas vs. Baltimore – He started out strong, but has faltered in the last few weeks. Baltimore is good at shutting down outside passing.
  2. DeAndre Hopkins vs. Jacksonville – If Hopkins gets the unfortunate matchup with Ramsey he could be shut down for the week.

Players to avoid – I’d rather not start these guys if I can avoid it

  1. Calvin Ridley vs. New York Giants – The Giants have been really good at shutting down the top end wide receivers of other teams (except for Alshon Jefferey last week)
  2. T.Y. Hilton vs. Buffalo – Buffalo has one great CB that can shadow a WR.  Hilton would be that WR.

Draft King Bargains – decent matchups you can pick up on the cheap

  1. Willie Snead IV vs. New Orleans ($5,500) – This figures to be a high-scoring game, and Snead could be the guy to get the lion share of the catches.  The fact that it’s a revenge game for him only adds icing on the cake.
  2. Josh Gordon vs. Chicago ($5,600) – He hasn’t produced really, but he’s so cheap and can put up multiple touchdowns at any given time.
  3. Jermaine Kearse vs. Minnesota ($4,100) – Kearse has been moved to the slot, and that is where Darnold goes with most of his targets.

Quarter Backs

Top Picks – guys you HAVE to start if you have them

  1. Patrick Mahomes vs. Cincinnati – He’s got too high of a floor and a seemingly infinite ceiling.
  2. Kirk Cousins vs. New York Jets – The Vikings new signal caller appears to be worth every penny of his contract.
  3. Jared Goff vs. San Francisco – Goff is just clicking on every level, even with pieces of the puzzle missing time due to injury.

Players to watch – players worth keeping an eye on

  1. Derek Anderson vs. Indianapolis – He’s been given the start, and don’t forget that (a million years ago) he made the Pro Bowl.
  2. Brock Osweiler vs. Detroit – Can Osweiler make a case that he’s not the worst QB to ever play the game?

Players to avoid – I’d rather not start these guys if I can avoid it

  1. Dak Prescott vs. Washington – Dak on the road has not played well, not at all.
  2. DeSean Watson vs. Jacksonville – Watson had a hard time with the Bills pass rush.  The Jags are better.

Draft King Bargains – decent matchups you can pick up on the cheap

  1. Baker Mayfield vs. Tampa Bay ($5,800) – This is the sort of game where Baker could put up big numbers, he’s too cheap to ignore.
  2. Derek Anderson vs. Indianapolis ($4,300) – Speaking of cheap, Anderson is likely to set a record for the cheapest starting QB you could ever get.
  3. Joe Flacco vs. New Orleans ($5,200) – Not as cheap as some of the others, but Flacco figures to have a great game.

Tight Ends

Top Picks – guys you HAVE to start if you have them

  1. Zack Ertz vs. Carolina – The Panthers funnel work to the middle, and Ertz is the favorite target of Wentz.
  2. Rob Gronkowski vs. Chicago – It’s sort of boom or bust, but Gronk can still have a 3 TD day any given Sunday.
  3. Eric Ebron vs. Buffalo – Buffalo hasn’t covered TE’s well, and Luck has targeted TE’s a lot.

Players to watch – players worth keeping an eye on

  1. Geoff Swaim vs. Washington – Swaim has seemingly become the guy, but I still see too many other TE’s cycle through the formations to love him.
  2. James O’Shaughnessy vs. Houston – Houston has good corners and good line and the one soft spot seems to be middle passes to slot receivers, backs or tight ends.

Players to avoid – I’d rather not start these guys if I can avoid it

  1. Antonio Gates vs. Tennessee – Gates has yet to get going.  Tennessee has also played TE’s well.
  2. Greg Olsen vs. Philadelphia – Olsen is just getting back to the roster, so that alone makes you weary of a start.  Philly has been great at shutting down TE’s.

Draft King Bargains – decent matchups you can pick up on the cheap

  1. David Njoku vs. Tampa Bay ($4,200) – He’s getting a lot more targets, and he’s too cheap to pass up
  2. O.J. Howard vs. Cleveland ($3,600) – This is a bit of a split situation, if you think Howard is going to get the goal line targets he is SUPER cheap and a great value.

Defenses

Top Picks – teams you HAVE to start if you have them

  1. Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco – The 49ers have looked good on offense since Jimmy G went down, but they haven’t played a defense like this year
  2. Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo – Kind of a boom or bust pick, but if Anderson isn’t on the same page with the rest of his team than you’ll see sacks and turnovers galore.
  3. Houston vs. Jacksonville – Jacksonville has looked horrible on offense for the last few weeks.

Teams to watch – teams worth keeping an eye on

  1. Jacksonville vs. Houston – The Jags looked putrid against Dallas last week, and Houston has more playmakers than Dallas does.
  2. Chicago vs. New England – The defense has been insane, but that was with Mack in the lineup.  Can the team find that form with him out?

Teams to avoid – I’d rather not start these guys if I can avoid it

  1. Cincinnati vs. Kansas City – The Chiefs are shredding teams.
  2. San Francisco vs. Los Angeles Rams – The Rams are too good, and their Defense usually gives them great field position a lot.

Draft King Bargains – decent matchups you can pick up on the cheap

  1. Texans vs. Jacksonville ($2,800) – Given the Jags situation this is WAY too cheap for this team.
  2. Indianapolis vs. Buffalo ($3,300) – Does the guy creating the costs know who Buffalo has at QB?
