Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress is back in trouble with authorities.
He was recently indicted on criminal charges relating to tax payments (very Al Capone). The former Pittsburgh Steeler, New York Giant, and New York Jet was charged with willful failure to pay a state tax, and issuing a bad check or electronic funds transfer. This is the first time anyone has been prosecuted under a law that was signed last year making issuing of bad electronic funds a criminal offense.
The offense has a maximum sentence of five years in jail. Burress has already served time for a gun related incident in 2009. He hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012.
