Every year my buddy Ben and I talk football when the Super Bowl is long since over. We talk about the schedule ahead, the free agent market, the draft, and all things that revolve around our teams.

One thing we always kid about is the amazingly ridiculous things that must be said inside the front offices of teams, in meetings between coaches, GM’s, and owners. We often take haphazard guesses at such conversations. Here is one such guess for the Minnesota Vikings.

Note: Any and all of the below conversation is fictional. Any correlation between this conversation and real life events is circumstantial and hilarious.

Mike Zimmer (MZ) – Hi Mr. Wilf.

Zygi Wilf (ZW) – Mike, please, call me Zygi. What are your plans for our quarterback, and running backs this season?

MZ – Well Zygi, in looking over what we have here based on film I’d like to keep Teddy Bridgewater and not draft a quarterback in the draft at all. We might be well served to pick up a free agent QB like Mark Sanchez, but overall I’m feeling okay with our quarterback situation.

ZW – Okay?! I would like to see the team find a way to either draft or acquire someone you feel more than “okay” about.

MZ – Zygi, have you heard what the Miami Dolphins want to give Ryan Tannehill? $105 million dollars, and he has a loosing record with that team. I thing Teddy is the same caliber of quarterback as Tannehill. Do we have the cap space to finance a guy like that?

ZW – I guess not. Okay then, what do you want to do about Adrian Peterson?

MZ – I wanted to talk to you about him. He’s a pricey player, but he’s still one of the best running backs in the league. If you think his presence won’t be too much of a distraction for the team than I’m happy to keep him. If not, we should trade him and get everything we can back.

ZW – I’ve heard Dallas would be interested, and Jerry Jones would give up a fair bit to get his hands on the local Texas product. They would also be a little desperate for help with DeMarco Murray leaving via free agency.

MZ – I think that would be the ultimate insult to Dallas if we could trade them Peterson, get a ton of draft picks and decent players, and then went out and signed Murray after the fact. Talk about a slap in the face.

ZW – Let’s find a way to make this happen, Mike.
