Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a soon-to-be released drama based on a 2012 book featuring the same name. Starring Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and others, the plot centers around a goofy high school student who becomes friends with a classmate suffering from cancer.
The film is off to an early good start with Rotten Tomatoes, currently rocking admirable praise after fairly limited reviews. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl has also been awarded as a Sundance Champ for its dramatic chops.
Like Juno or Little Miss Sunshine, this offbeat drama resembles the quirky, heartwarming type of film audiences crave. A unique and creative approach can outweigh car chases and explosions when done properly. It will be in theaters June 12, 2015.
