25 Days of Christmas Episodes: The Nice-capades (Bob’s Burgers)

We’re counting down the days until Christmas by looking back at Christmas episodes from a variety of TV shows. Tonight we’re talking about “The Nice-capades” from Bob’s Burgers. What Christmas episode tropes did this episode use? Let’s take a look.

Basic Info

Directed by: Chris Song

Written by: Dan Fybel

Episode Number: Season 6, Episode 5

Where to Watch It: Hulu

Christmas Songs

When a mall Santa tells the kids that he’s going to tell Santa they’re naughty, they panic and worry about how they can convince him they’re nice. They put together a big show called “The Nice-capades” to perform for him, where they sing songs about all the nice things they did all year.

Fischoeder also sings a song, after striking up a deal with the kids. He grants them use of the ice rink in his mall in exchange for doing the opening number.

Christmas Sweaters

The Belcher kids all wear Christmas sweaters while they’re putting on the show in the mall. They are absolutely adorable.

Santa Claus

The fact that tough, cynical Louise believes in Santa and cares so much about him is what makes this episode so sweet. Seeing Louise be vulnerable is always a special treat.

Bob doesn’t shoot her down when she tells him that he doesn’t know anything about Santa. Instead, Bob and Linda support the kids’ quest to prove that they’re nice so that they won’t be disillusioned.

The mall Santa who got angry at them for interrupting him while he was using a massage chair, changes his mind after the show and ends up assuring Louise that she’s a nice person.

Presents

When mall Santa is too busy buying a present to see the kids’ show, Bob has to save the day by volunteering to buy a present for his nephew for him. Unfortunately for Bob, the only store left open is Accurate Calendars.
